Be wary of uninitiated callers asking for financial or personal information
Never provide personal or payment information on a call that you did not initiate. If you are uncomfortable with a phone call that was not initiated by you, hang up or ask for the purpose of the call. Then contact the company using legitimate sources such as contact phone numbers found on the company’s website, your bank statements, and those listed on your ATM, debit or credit card.
Be wary of suspicious texts
If you receive a text message that you are not comfortable with, do not reply to the text or call the number. Also, do not respond to the prompts of an unfamiliar Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system asking you to enter personal information, such as Social Security number or debit card number.
